After surviving a car crash at the age of 22 that left me with an 80% brain disability, I made a deal with The CEO of the Universe that if he restored my health, I would donate 80 units of blood. A donor can donate 450ml of blood at a time, with a waiting period of fifty-six days, or eight weeks, between each donation. At a maximum of six donations a year, it would therefore take a minimum of thirteen years to complete this. In fact, taking times when I was ill and when I lived in London, Cape Town, and Kuala Lumpur, I was automatically excluded from donating blood. Nevertheless, it took me eighteen years to make good on my word, and I did it. The CEO of the Universe restored my health, and within seven years after my car crash, I read for a Banking undergrad and was working in the world of finance.
I then spent the next fifteen years in Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Retail Banking, Insurance and Wealth Management. As a Certificated Banker, Certified Financial Planner®, and a retired Certified Director of the Institute of Directors. I have worked in the world's largest financial institutions, including Barclays Investment Bank in London, First National Bank in Johannesburg, and Sanlam Life in Cape Town.
Zeenith, who is my wife, business partner, and best friend, and I, are married for twenty five years. We are blessed with two amazing teenage sons that we adopted at birth.
